RULES OF CONTEST VIDEO DEMONSTRATION
Only videos never displayed online heretofore may enter. In all cases, without exception, premiere of contest video must be held on akross.ru, at the time, scheduled by the contest organizers. Do not add/upload your video on any other website (YouTube included) before the offical premiere on akross.ru.
After the official premiere on akross.ru, author may freely upload his/her own video to any other websites. But, it is strictly forbidden to alter the content of the video or remove contest logo until the end of AKROSS Con
2020.
SOURCES' REQUIREMENTS
AKROSS Con 2020 accepts fan-made videos based on anime
(or anime-style features, not neccessarily made in Japan) or Japanese video games.
Anime art and manga are also acceptable.
There are no restrictions on music style or language.
You must know the correct name of the anime/game as well as music performer and track that you are going to use in your video. Unidentified music and anime(games) are not allowed at the contest!
Inserting scenes and objects not belonging to an anime/game (e.g. 3D scenes, self
draw/animation, live video, Western animation) is permitted, but foreign scenes should not exceed
1/3 of the total video time (production titles excluded).
RULES OF ENCODING
1. The Standard version of the video, encoded with optimal quality for viewing and streaming, is mandatory and must strictly fit these encoding requirements:
Container: mp4
Video: H.264 (x264)
(AVC)
Audio:
aac (AAC)
Framerate: 30 fps or less
Encoding: 8 bit
Maximum
file size: 1 minute = 30 megabytes
We recommend to use our official tool AMVsimple,
that automatically creates Standard version of your video within
all technical requirements!
We highly recommend to make the Standard version by yourself. Otherwise, it will be made automatically, by re-encoding the best available version of your video with basic quality settings.
2. At your will, you may also present an optional Alternative
version of your video (up to 2). File format, codecs, framerate and file size can be
anything of your choice.
VIDEO PRESENTATION
1. In the beginning
or the end of the video there must be displayed the author's name
under which you have registered at the contest. Also there must be displayed correct
names of all animes(games) and music tracks used in the production of your video.
You can use whatever way for displaying this information but it must be easily
readable.
2. In the beginning or the end of the video there must be displayed the contest
logo. The way of displaying it or its elements can be altered but at least for
2 full seconds it must be visible in its original form (you're not allowed to remove or alter logo elements, change the fonts, etc). You can download contest logo here.
3. Watermarks or logos in the corner of the frame are not allowed (unless their presense
is required conceptionally). This includes the watermarks built in the source
originally (most common example - logo of Japanese TV channel in the top right corner), all of which should be deleted, hidden or heavily blurred (until it becomes unrecognizable) before you submit your video.
4. Fansubs are not allowed in the contest video. If your own subtitles are required, we recommend to add them as a separate .srt
or .ass file.
5. Contest video cannot be shorter than 1 minute or longer than 15 minutes (production
titles excluded).
SCREENING FOR FINALS
After the demonstration of all contest videos, the group of finalists will be selected. The finalists will
continue to compete for the prizes and receive the voting right. The screeining
is conducted in 2 stages:
Stage 1 - Expert selection
Most of the finalists will be appointed by the voting of expert committee
(any prize-place winner of the previous
AKROSS Con contests can participate).
Stage 2 - Viewers'
selection (at least 15% of all finalists)
Finally,
closer to the contest's completion, some more vids will be picked from the screened
works based on the special voting of the viewers on the site.
Note: amount of finalists depends on the resulting amount of videos as well as their average artistic level (presumably,
35~40%).
RULES ON VOTING IN PRIMARY NOMINATIONS
For Best video will vote all creators who made their way into the finals. The voting will be done
by filling in a special form in your "Participant's panel". In the form
you will be requested to rank the best, in your opinion, videos. Based on its
position, each vid will receive points. All points will be summed up and the videos will be ranked based on their
total points. Creator whose vid gets the most points will be pronounced the winner
of the contest. Second and third places are also considered winning.
Viewers'
Choice is awarded to the creator that collects the most votes in a special
voting held among all registered members of our site.
RULES ON VOTING IN SECONDARY NOMINATIONS
In Genre and Technical categories
will vote all creators who made their
way into the finals. Detailed instructions on each nomination and votng rules
will show up in "Participant's Panel" immediately before the voting.
Note: One video cannot win more than one genre nomination. If one video gets the highest number of points in two genre categories, it will be declared the winner only in the nomination with closest genre criteria (determined by the coordinator).
All issues not covered by these rules will be resolved by the hosts on as-needed basis.
