I think having everyone be able to vote at this point is pretty good considering we are not at 200 editors anymore,making such a task possible. The amount of quality amv's to see. The simple and easy to upload nature of this website during competition time and not in a roundabout way with the links and stuff. freedom of this contest to do pretty much whenever with in reason,rather than the us contests that seems to be sensitive saying under R rating or even PG-13.(which on the us contest side is not really that specific,compare to our version 'do not want major erotic (minor erotic is fine)'which summarises it completely) this is a contest that celebrates all editors from all around the world and a contest I am proud to be a part of every single year.
we always love that calculator so we make sure our standard version is correct. you have also made the process so much simpler over the years, with everything I complain I have to mention everything that you improved. now the only thing you have to do is put what you used in the video in a timely manner and then you upload your video rather than put the size of the video along with dimensions. (some thing I embarrassed to say I messed up the first year asking why it was two numbers not one thanks to YouTube single number video quietly settings, I have definitely learned a lot since then)
evilspider is always helpful if you have a problem. getting everything on the website is super easy with a single button. I have been competing here for seven years and this is the top contest I prioritise. |

I would even go as far as to say that most of my dislikes here are related to things planned outside of the contest than the actual contest itself. he needs to put what to name each version of the files,particularly the two alternate version. should the second alternate be with a number how (should the line be there or should it be in the same word), he used to make it very clear what the alternate preview and standard file was to be name but now only the standard version is listed.
I thought the deadline was treated it was really terrible. first timers or people who came with the last 3 years will have no idea what I am referring to but historically within the last decade every time he put the contest in December it was extended. I want to make it clear the issue is not even complete that he did not extend even though that was inconvenient for me in my worst nightmare since I was 16/17. I do recognize that the whole idea of canceling the extended deadline thing was mine. The problem is he said he might extend the deadline and then did not. I suggested that the first year I was in the finals and it was implemented the next year. if the message was closer to 'it might be extended under extreme or certain circumstances' rather than a catch-all this would work but it was not. I really do schedule everything around this. actually makes me curious what would have had to happen for you to extend the deadline but that is besides the point.
I decided some big commitments based based on the usual timing.I literally had two things I was scheduled to do between the time and now I have three in complete things because I have to rate 40 videos instead of my commitment thinking that this was gonna be in January. also it is right before Christmas break in the west so even punting this to December 14-16 which was where the pre-extended date was back in the 2018 period would allow some room. basically what I am trying to say is to not say you might extend it when you will not. since you have a habit of doing it 100 percent of the time before the solid deadline policy. basically do you not make it seem like you brought back up would your policy in which you always extend it each time when you have not.
I love to savor every moment but that can be difficult given everything. The short amount time to vote. we should have at least gotten 5 days like usual. it is almost like evilspider had to rush everything to do something or wanted to get this over with. it took a while to get access to a computer to watching the videos with subtitles so that delayed somethings that snowboarding today need to review 10 videos before submitting my top 10. it is just not practical to have to fill in everything but I was caught offguard because I was supposed to do a lot of other engagements. I think subtitles need to be able to be viewed on the website. particularly since built in players do not automatically allow subtitles to be added and viewed. I actually had to view them in a subtitle creator.
this contest is formatted in the way assuming that everyone's gonna download the video and that time has passed. 90 percent of people view their videos online and I am underestimating that score to assume maybe people on this website might be different. yet all the packages are made in the way for downloading. I think having the opportunity to be able to be watched easily from the website again using the alternate or even the preview with a button like it used to be would be cool particularly with subtitle. | Bean d'Тінь | I think each finalist making at least one category would help give everyone a chance to possibly win something. (Since a lot of the same videos made a lot of some of the bigger categories like action and drama) I definitely at the very least think all of the psychedelic style ones should make into psychedelic because of how much of its own thing it is should be easy to sort. I feel recently some people have been not writing a description. I am not sure if they just cannot think of one in a rush or they think that listing their concept would give them a lower score in artistic if written wrong or if it is because they are not aware of one of the categories literally relying on that. I am not saying have a long character requirement. (maybe 50 letters/characters) but it can get difficult to grade someone's "concept as they intended it" without them mentioning their concept as they attended it. they were way too many videos this year that were blank.
I think there should be a depression based category given the amount in recent years of the genre of depression exploring videos and that they do not really properly fit into any of our current categories well has really increased. (I think we are trying to fit them in drama or romance (and occasionally edging psychedelic)) it seems like this trend is not going anywhere fast so might as well make a category at this point. (I think we had at least 6 videos this year rather than the 1 or 2 videos we had in 2020) granted I this name is a working title, I am assuming evilspider will have the honour of choosing his own genre name for this contest rather than my listed concepts name that I thought of on a whims.
If the website is formatted in a way that means that makes making another genre impossible for the nomination buttons(I am not really sure how this website is formatted,I heard someone else's website have this issue outside of amvs but I am not really sure how they fixed it),I would merge dance with fun since the mouth dance videos we get any year since we get way more of this 'depression genre' than we ever get of the dance genre.
like I said in dislikes , the rules need to be very obvious in terms of the deadline. (it is so long over there I am not going to repeat it here) I think the maximum frame rate allowed for the standard version should be 60 frames. I understand 120 frames is too much considering my built in player does not even support it. (if you wonder why I made a video like this,I did not know that before I would say 2021 and the last time it was touched was in August of 2019 based on the date.my logic was the simplistic 'more frames must be better' since I was a teenager) but I think 30 frames is a little low.
I do not think we should bring back the no lyric based titles but maybe you cannot name your video on the exact song title (variations ok but the exact title only no) to bring back some variety. so to not end up at some point in the situation with two people who chose the same song with the same video title which I think happened this year and made it confusing. |
